Hyundai debuted the H350 van at the IAA Commercial Vehicle Show in Hannover, with the new model being the company’s first multi-purpose light commercial van for the European market.
Built on a flexible platform that supports three body styles (cargo van, passenger bus with 14/15 seats and flatbed truck), the new H350 is said to offer high load volume, ergonomic design and competitive running costs.
Hyundai says its engineers focused on six key areas during the development of the H350: efficiency, value, loading capacity, safety, reliability and performance. The H350 was benchmarked against its major rivals from the major premium European commercial vehicle manufacturers, in order to make sure that the user experience compared favorably with vehicles in its sector.
While the H350 features design cues from Hyundai’s passenger car family, it also delivers “drivers car-like characteristics and high levels of refinement,” according to the release. The H350 is capable of carrying up to 1.4 tonnes (3,086 lbs) of cargo in its load bay, while also being able to tow trailers of up to 2.5 tonnes (5,511 lbs).
The H350 Cargo van’s load space is 1,955mm high, 1,795mm wide and 3,780mm long and can accommodate five standardized Euro pallets (1,200mm x 800mm x 900mm). Furthermore, the loading room between each wheel arch (1,380 mm) does not compromise the usability of the cargo space.
The rear-wheel drive Hyundai H350 is offered with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder turbo diesel CRDI unit, available in two states of tune: 150PS (148hp) and 170PS (168hp). The standard engine produces 373Nm (275lb-ft) of torque, while the more powerful unit delivers 422Nm (311lb-ft) of torque. Both engines are mated to a six-speed manual transmission and meet Euro5 emissions regulations. The Hyundai H350 will also be on display at the Paris Auto Show.
