Jeep is preparing for the European market launch of the Renegade, the first Jeep model to be built in Italy, which will be sold in more than 100 countries.
The automaker has released a fresh gallery with the Euro-spec model, which shares the platform with the soon-to-be-revealed Fiat 500X. The Renegade is Jeep’s first small SUV and the first small SUV available with a nine-speed automatic transmission. Another first is the rear-axle disconnect system which improves fuel efficiency and uses 4WD only when necessary.
Available in the Sport, Longitude, Limited and Trailhawk trim levels, the Renegade will also be offered with an “Opening Edition” model in the launch phase, dedicated to the first customers.
Arriving in European markets in the fourth quarter of this year, the Jeep Renegade will be available with 12 powertrain combinations, including two MultiAir2 petrol engines (with 140PS and 170PS), two MultiJet II diesel engines (120PS-170PS) one E.torQ petrol engine (120PS) and a choice of two manual, one dual-dry clutch (DDCT) and one automatic gearbox.
In Russia, the Middle East and South Africa, the Renegade also gets the 185PS 2.4-liter Tigershark MultiAir engine with with nine-speed automatic transmission, available in 4×2 and 4×4 configurations.
The Renegade is available with two new 4×4 systems, Jeep Active Drive and Jeep Active Drive Low, both incorporating a rear axle disconnect system that seamlessly switches between two- and four-wheel-drive according to road conditions. Both 4WD systems are combined with the Jeep Selec-Terrain traction control system with four settings (Auto, Snow, Sand and Mud). The Trailhawk model has an additional mode called Rock.
