You should keep an eye out for the Kia Optima T-Hybrid. It’s set to make its debut this week at the Paris motor show, and feature several interesting pieces of tech which will ultimately translate into a desirably green road car.

First off, it’s a diesel-electric hybrid, and there aren’t too many of those around yet – it’s still somewhat of a novel concept. It uses the firm’s 1.7-liter diesel which is also boosted by a lag-culling electric supercharger, as well as the customary e-motor (and generator).

Kia promises that with the electric supercharger, the diesel unit makes 20 percent more power, while the entire system helps it emit 20 percent less harmful stuff out the back. It also comes with a desirable electric-only mode which can be used “at low speeds and when cruising.”

The manufacturer is calling it a concept, but it’s more of a technical showcase than anything else. So far, it hasn’t released any specific details about the car or the powertrain – these will probably be made available once the car is officially unveiled.
