Subaru may be in the midst of a huge sales surge that’s bringing lots of new buyers into their fold, but they’d like to remind everyone they haven’t abandoned all of their stereotypes.
In this ad for the 2015 Subaru Outback, it’s a multi-generational road trip to Woodstock, New York which inevitably has some veiled drug and sex references from Grandma while the parents sit up front, embarrassed.
This spot, “Memory Lane,” is one of two ads launching with the redone-for-2015 Outback directed by Lance Acord, known for his work in films such as Lost in Translation and Being John Malkovich.
And there’s literally tree hugging in this ad. How perfect, Subaru.
