How many of you were aware of the fact that Mercedes’ AMG GT presentation took place at about the same time Apple was revealing its iPhone6 and Apple Watch?
As much as we gearheads hate to admit it, we seriously doubt that Mercedes stole Apple’s thunder – quite the opposite actually.
Who knows why Stuttgart chose this specific date for the reveal of one of its most glamorous products and whether it had time to change it, but the Germans did try to make something out of it with a Twitter post.
The tweet showed a picture of the GT’s engine start and AMG Drive Unit control buttons together with the caption, “This is our new home button!” and the #iPhone6 hashtag.
Don’t take my word for it, but the “home button” could be a reference to the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus’ new reachability gesture that allows users to double tap the home button to slide the display down.
