Following the teaser rendering shown earlier this month, Mitsubishi has released the first official photos of its Paris Auto Show study, the Outlander PHEV Concept S.
Based on the production plug-in hybrid SUV from which it sources the powertrain, the study features a sleeker design which anticipates a “special design package for the production Outlander PHEV,” according to Mitsubishi.
The study’s front end features chromed accent moldings on either side of the grille, while the wraparound headlamps contribute to a sportier look. At the rear, similar chrome accents run from tailgate to the wings, topped by elongated taillamps. The study features a “Platinum White” color with glass flake finish.
The cabin has a “Black & Burgundy” color scheme that contrasts to the exterior, with design details including black wood grain trim with silver accent, a center console inspired by Japanese traditional black lacquered boxes, soft hand-stitched leather and silver accents of the trimming lines curving around the seat.
Besides the Outlander PHEV Concept S, Mitsubishi’s booth at the Paris Auto Show will include the Outlander PHEV rally car that competed in the FIA Asia Cross Country Rally 2014, European specification production models, the i-MiEV and other electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles.
