Opel / Vauxhall needs to get its Corsa OPC / VXR right in order to compete with the supermini hot hatch class leading contenders.
It needs to have at least 200 hp, look sporty enough and drive with real verve and gusto – it’s going up against the likes of the Renault Clio RS, Ford Fiesta ST, Peugeot 208 GTi and maybe even an MPS version of the new Mazda2 in the not too distant future.
Now, we get our first glimpse of the new hot Corsa, spotted by our spies. We must concede that it looks pretty nifty with those aggressive boomerang lights (that look like they were inspired by those of recent McLarens), aluminum inserts in the lowered front bumper and the big wheels in line with what other OPC / VXR models are wearing.
Round the back, there’s less to talk about, bar the bigger exhaust which will allow the presumed 1.6-liter turbo breathe out more easily. It could be a version of the old car‘s engine, or a completely new unit.
