As they say, better late than never; about a year after VW presented the limited run Amarok Dark Label edition at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show, the Germans are now offering it in Britain.
VW said it will allocate 300 units for the UK with sales to begin on September 22. Prices start at £26,125 (OTR ex VAT) for the 2.0 BiTDI 180PS 4MOTION Selectable manual model, and at £27,855(OTR ex VAT) for the 2.0 BiTDI 180PS 4MOTION Permanent with an 8-speed automatic.
What separates the Dark Label edition from its regular brethren are a handful of styling features, which on the outside, include 18-inch Durban alloy wheels in black, extended wheel arches, an underride guard below the front bumper, tinted windows, smoked tail lamps, matt black side bars and footstep, along with a black rear bumper. It also has black grained door handles and black foil on the B-pillars.
Inside, the Amarok pickup truck gets anthracite Alcantara upholstery, velour floor mats with Dark Label branding, and added equipment goods such as the multi-functional steering wheel, leather gear knob and gaiter, navigation with a six-inch color touchscreen.
VW also offers a range of optional Dark Label accessories, including a hard tonneau cover, Dark Label branded seat covers, bonnet protection and roof-mounted lights.
In the UK, the Dark Label edition is available exclusively with the range-topping 2.0-litre BiTDI 180PS / 177bhp engine, offering up to 420Nm of peak torque and a maximum towing capacity of up to 3,200kg (7,055 pounds).
