In Western markets, Renault offers the new Twingo, co-developed with Daimler’s Smart brand, but for emerging markets like India and Brazil, the French are preparing a different city car.
Currently known by its codename XBA, the affordable sub-compact model was spied in prototype form by a reader of Motor Vikatan.
From the few things we know about the small hatchback is that it will be built in India and Brazil, likely offering a sub-1.0-liter petrol engine connected to a manual gearbox.
We wouldn’t rule out a similar version from Datsun and even Dacia, especially the former, after the Japanese brand showed a similar-sized concept model named the Redi-Go at the Delhi Auto Expo earlier this year.
