Launched this spring in North America at the New York Auto Show, the updated Infiniti Q70 (previously known as Infiniti M) will debut in Europe at the Paris Auto Show.
The BMW 5-Series rival features styling changes that bring the look closer to that of the smaller Q50 sedan. The front and rear bumpers have a more chiseled appearance, with both the standard grille and Sport grille have been updated to resemble more the Q50. The headlights get LEDs as standard, while the taillights are more expressive than before thanks to the use of LEDs.
Infiniti says onboard comfort and noise insulation have been further improved, with the suspension having been modified at all four corners. The dampers now adopt a new seal design between the sliding tubes which “minimizes in particular initial impacts over road imperfections.” The updated Q70 also gets standard 18-inch wheels.
The big news for Europe is the addition of the Mercedes-sourced 2.2-liter four-cylinder turbo diesel engine producing 167hp and 400 Nm (295 lb-ft) of torque, the latter constantly available from 1,600 rpm through 2,800 rpm. Infiniti says turbo diesel lag time and fuel consumption are reduced thanks to the 1800-psi solenoid injectors and single variable-geometry turbocharger.
Infiniti also offers the Q70 Hybrid in Europe, which pairs a 3.5-liter V6 gasoline engine with an electric motor for a total output of 359 hp. The Q70 is also available with the Around View Monitor (AVM), which helps drivers in blind intersections, tight urban situations, as well as during parking maneuvers.
European deliveries of the new Infiniti Q70 start in December 2014, with pricing to be announced closer to launch time.
