SsangYong has released plenty of SUV studies during the past few years, and the Koreans will add two more at this year’s Paris Auto Show. Called XIV-Air and XIV-Adventure, the two SUV concepts are the final development prototypes of the upcoming X100 B-segment production model.
Both the XIV-Air and XIV-Adventure are follow-ups to the 2011 SsangYong XIV-1 Concept and are based on the brand’s philosophy of “Robust, Specialty and Premium”, using the design theme of “Nature born – 3 Motion”.
The new XIV (eXciting user-Interface Vehicle) studies feature an evolved, more production-ready design compared to the 2011 version. While the XIV-Air appears to have an open roof and a standard-looking body, the XIV-Adventure is a more rugged-looking version with more prominent bumpers and a solid roof rack.
Both concepts are powered by either a 1.6-liter petrol or 1.6-liter diesel engine that meet Euro 6 emission standards. They measure 4,195mm (165.1in) in length and have a 2,600mm (103.2in) wheelbase. The production model will go on sale next year.
