You know winter is approaching in this part of the world when automakers begin touting their SEMA Show projects, like Scion that is teasing two new models.
To answer your first question, yes that’s Slayer as in the thrash metal band born in the 1980s, with the musicians putting their artistic touch on the Scion x Slayer Mobile Amp tC.
“Slayer’s fans are going to be excited when we reveal what a metal-inspired Scion tC looks like,” Slayer guitarist Kerry King said. “Working with Scion has given us another way to reach new audiences and inspire them to keep going down their own paths.”
It’s just a sketch for now, but the real thing will get “band-inspired details” on the outside and “amps, towers of speakers, a custom mixer and a 32-inch monitor for media playback” on the inside. This build is orchestrated by Mike Vu of MV DESIGNZ.
Scion’s second 2014 SEMA Show project announced today is the “Scion x Riley Hawk Skate Tour xB”. Pro skateboarder Riley Hawk says the xB combines his three passions, which beyond skateboarding, include rock ‘n’ roll and an appreciation for 70s style. Scott Kanemura of KMA Productions is the man who will turn Hawk’s vision into reality.
