After the first photos of the C-HR Concept appeared online over the weekend, Toyota released preliminary details about the small SUV concept that will debut at the Paris Auto Show.
Toyota says the C-HR Concept is “a vision for a hybrid-powered compact crossover that displays an emphatic new design language” and that it gives “an early hint of a kind of vehicle Toyota would like to bring to market.”
In other words, the C-HR Concept may preview a rival for the Nissan Juke small SUV. Toyota says the study also introduces a new design approach with what it calls a “diamond styling theme.” That’s because beneath the flowing cabin profile, “the lower bodywork has been sculpted to create faceted surfaces, like the precision cutting of a gemstone,” according to the release.
The automaker says the front end of the concept marks a development of Toyota’s current design cues and the introduction of themes which “signal a future direction for Toyota vehicles.” The muscular wheel arches and the angular rear shoulders give the C-HR Concept a powerful look, while the aero-inspired floating taillamps contribute to the vehicle’s broad-shouldered look.
Unfortunately, Toyota didn’t reveal new photos or details about the hybrid powertrain, but we’re going to have both on October 2 when the C-HR Concept is officially unveiled in Paris.
