One of Carscoops’ readers spotted a family of Mercedes-Benz prototypes among which was a 2016 GLK, or if the reports on a new nomenclature hold true, the GLC.
“Last week during my vocation to Monument Valley National park, Utah, we drove into a convoy of Mercedes SUVs with Michigan plates,” Alex Y. told Carscoops. “At the end of the convoy were two camouflaged prototype vehicles. I made out the last one (the one I was following) could be the 2016 GLK model.”
Our tip of the hat to Alex, because that’s exactly what it is.
Believed to debut in 2015, the GLK’s successor was designed alongside the fourth-gen C-Class with which it shares its platform, powertrains, technology, and judging by our previous scoop shots, parts of the interior as well.
It will have a softer and more rounded look than the current boxy model and will continue to offer seating for five, albeit with increased space, thanks to the longer wheelbase and wider tracks.
