While it’s known that the Mercedes-Benz G65 AMG is usually reserved for sheiks, caliphs or sultans, a recent report indicates that Daimler has more extensive plans for the V12 SUV as of 2016. That’s also the year the G is said to receive a major overhaul.
Automotive News is the source, but they give absolutely no other details. We could speculate that Mercedes may be looking to start selling the refreshed G65 in a wider selection of markets – it would make sense to sell it in Brazil, for instance, or Mexico, places like that, where the middle class is deeply suppressed and the elite just keeps getting more elitist and powerful…
As far as its engine goes, power may not stay at the 604 hp mark that it is at now (the newer S-Class has 612 hp) – they could boost it by a few hp to give a sense of progress. The price will obviously still be prohibitive, no matter where they sell it – the current one (pictured) goes for a quarter-million dollars US, give or take.
