There’s talk of a flagship Volvo that would bear the S90 nameplate and be pitched at the Mercedes-Benz E-Class and Audi A6. If that’s true, then we could be in for a treat if their latest concepts and the XC90 are anything to go by.

AutoExpress believes the model will be the same basic shape as the S80, but feature the trademark T-shaped lights of the XC90 – in fact, they say all Volvos bearing a ’90 badge’ will be treated to the same.

The source article says Volvo is already working on the model, a model which will go for all out sophistication.

However, Volvo is not perceived as a ‘full premium’ brand, more like semi-premium, in the Vein of Alfa Romeo. They will need to change that perception, and this suggested S90 model sounds like the car to get it done.

Note: Volvo Estate Concept pictured – it will probably look like it, but with a sedan rear end
