The First Edition of Volvo’s new 2016 XC90 SUV was sold out in about 47 hours after the Swedish firm began accepting online orders at 3pm on Wednesday, September 3.
All 1,927 individually numbered cars that were offered globally have been spoken for, with UK buyers securing 55 of the First Edition models that will be delivered in April next year.
“We are very pleased, but not really surprised,” said Volvo Car Senior Vice President, Alain Visser. “The huge interest in the XC90 escalated to astronomical levels after the world-première last week.”
Not that you really missed out on something here, as besides having the bragging rights on being the first to get the XC90, the only special features of the First Edition models are the uniquely numbered tread plates and distinctive badge on the tailgate. All the other amenities and colors featured on the XC90 First Edition can be had on the regular models as well.
