All that waiting for the new Mercedes-AMG GT will soon be over, as Benz will reveal its new supercar today, ahead of its public premiere at October’s Paris Auto Show.
Only the second car ever to be entirely developed in-house by Mercedes-AMG, the GT will continue from where the SLS AMG left off, but it won’t be a direct successor.
Instead, Mercedes has created a smaller, nimbler and more affordable supercar to battle models like the Porsche 911 Turbo and even higher-performance versions of the Jaguar F-Type.
Resting under the stretched hood is a new 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 delivering up to 510 PS (503hp) at 6,250 rpm and 650Nm (479 lb-ft) of torque from 1,750 to 4,750 rpm, connected to a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission mounted to the rear axle assembly.
Mercedes has said that the GT S version of the car will be able to return a 3.8-second run for the zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) sprint and a top speed of 310 km/h (193mph).
