It’s not yet been established what it was that caused this new Jaguar F-Type (with 5,000 km / ~3,100 miles on the odometer) to burn beyond recognition, on the hard shoulder of a German autobahn. It’s not the first time it has happened, and it looks as if the damage this time was exactly as severe as the previous one – eerily so, even…

The car in question was apparently a rental, driven by a 26 year-old, who reportedly heard an explosion from under the hood, followed by flames which immediately prompted him to pull over. Luckily, he and the passenger were able to walk away unharmed, though the exact opposite can be said of the Jag which was beyond totaled.

Jaguar needs to look into this, because it’s not good publicity at all, no matter how good the F-Type looks and sounds.

Maybe this second strike will prompt them to do a transparent and thorough investigation and let the press know what their findings were – we still don’t have any additional information on the first one, and it’s been over a year since that happened.
