Audi won’t confirm the name yet, but it has confirmed the world premiere of the first concept car to bear the signature of its new Head of Design Marc Lichte at the Los Angeles motor show in November.
It also released a darkened image of the car that some suspect to be the long-rumored A9 for a luxury four-door coupe placed atop the current flagship, the more conservative A8 sedan. Looking at the study from above in the teaser, you could also say that it could be a BMW X6-like crossover.
Ingolstadt said the study will mark a new era in the brand’s design, pointing directly to the exterior and interior styling themes of its next generation models. Here’s hoping this also means we’ll be able to tell one Audi model from the other…
Lichte, 45, who was appointed Head of Audi Design in February 2014 after a long career at VW, says the new direction takes into consideration core qualities of the brand such as “sportiness, lightweight design and quattro drive”.
