Judging by the number of recalls in 2014, it seems that many automotive suppliers have lots quality control problems that seriously affect car companies.
The latest to issue a recall is the Chrysler Group, which on Thursday, announced two different campaigns for 33,443 2014MY light truck vehicles, both linked to tire pressuring monitors (TPMs).
The first one affects 23,053 Ram ProMaster commercial vans. The issue concerns the sensors on the tire monitoring system that may not properly warn the driver when the pressure is too low.
Chrysler will rectify the problem by upgrading the software that helps the system recognize the tire from which the data are coming.
In the second recall, 10,390 Jeep Wrangler 4x4s and Dodge Caravan and Chrysler Town & Country minivans have a TPM module with a test mode not disabled by the supplier. Chrysler will disable the test mode that may give inaccurate readings and a false warning.
All the vehicles are in the US market and no injuries or accidents have been reported. The company said that it will contact owners in the next month and schedule a free-of-charge service. Customers can also contact Chrysler’s Custom Information Center at 1-800-853-1403.
