Night vision in luxury cars is nothing new; it’s been around since the early 2000s on Lexus and Mercedes models. Now, it’s been adopted by an even wider array of manufacturers who’ve also integrated new pedestrian and obstacle recognition tech into it for added capability.
Consumer Reports had a look at one such system fitted to a BMW 7-Series.
They argue that while its usefulness is undeniable, often spotting potential hazards before the human eye ever could, the systems still have a long way to go before they become commonplace.
