Having been around for almost a year and a half, the Holden VF Commodore doesn’t change much for 2015.
It receives paddle shifters, some new rims for the sporty SS V Redline model as well very light sprinkling of tech and two new colors. The latter also exclusively features a Jet Black inside “with optional titanium interior highlights.”
The new (rather bright) colors are suggestive in their naming, being called Jungle Green and Some Like it Hot Red… These are spruced up by extra bits of gloss-black plastic round the back on sportier models (SV6, SS, SS V and SS V Redline).
The aforementioned paddle shifters are a first for the Commodore, but they’ve only been made available on the SS V Redline automatic.
To differentiate the driving experience of the various versions, Holden has chosen to have three distinct steering calibrations. “Touring” for the FE1 (Evoke, Calais, Calais V, Caprice V), “Sport” for FE2 & FE3 (SV6, SS, SS V) and finally Sport and Competitive for FE3 (SS V Redline).
The light sprinkling of tech mentioned in the opening is probably one of the most minute changes we’ve ever reported on – the reversing camera has been updated and now the guide lines curve with the steering; that’s it.
Nevertheless, the VF Commodore is a hugely important car for Australia where it “commands more than 72 percent of the large car segment” consisting of models costing under $70,000 AUD, according to the press blurb.
