Honda hasn’t had much luck with hybrids and the blame falls on the decisions of the company and its mediocre and confused products like the CR-Z, which despite being a flop, will soldier on for another year.
The pending demise of the Insight led many to believe that the slow-selling CR-Z could be next, but on Wednesday, Honda announced pricing for the 2015MY that will continue with minimal changes for the new model year.
Prices for the 2015 CR-Z start at $20,935, including a $790 destination fee, representing a $150 increase over the 2014MY.
There are two versions available, the base and EX with or without navigation, both powered by a 130hp 1.5-liter petrol engine and electric motor combo. Standard features for 2015 include Bluetooth, rearview camera, automatic climate control, power windows and door locks, remote entry and cruise control.
Honda Performance Development (HPD) also offers some optional upgrades such as front brake, sport suspension and exhaust kits, limited-slip differential, clutch, 18-inch alloy wheels and spoilers.
In September, the CR-Z was Honda’s second worst-seller in the U.S. with 248 units, just above the Insight that sold 240 cars. Year to date (January-September 2014) sales are down 16.9 percent to 2,945 units.
