The new i20 has moved the game on considerably for Hyundai, even when comparing it to the capable and not at all undesirable previous-gen.

It’s got a higher quality interior, it looks as modern as anything in the class and it promises an emphasis on comfort. Therefore, it’d be a good base for a subcompact wagon, a model currently being mulled by the Korean automaker.

The model would go up against the Renault Clio Estate, Skoda Fabia, as well as every other subcompact-based crossover on the market.

AutoNews obtained the information that the model was being looked at from Thomas Burekle, Hyundai’s Euro design boss. The wagon is not the only additional body style currently under study – the other is very likely a three-door variant.
