Fans of Jay Leno‘s car show on YouTube may no longer need to huddle around a computer screen to see the former talk show host discuss cars, as he may get yet another show.
The longtime host of NBC’s The Tonight Show is close to finalizing a deal to host a new car show for CNBC’s primetime lineup, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Leno stepped down from The Tonight Show permanently in February, and the show moved from Los Angeles to New York City to be hosted by Jimmy Fallon.
Leno reportedly looked at other networks such as CNN, A&E and History (which airs the US version of Top Gear) before settling on CNBC. That network, mostly known for its financial news programs, has been trying to boost its ratings through other shows. CNBC has also recently aired episodes of Jay’s Garage, which is still produced by NBC.
There’s no word on a timetable for the show’s launch. But given the popularity of Leno’s YouTube show, this could be a pretty good bet for CNBC and the makings of another solid car show on the air.
