Audi is sending off the first generation R8 with a bang in the guise of the limited production 2015 R8 Competition at the upcoming Los Angeles Auto Show.
Featuring an uprated 570hp 5.2L V10 linked exclusively to a seven-speed S tronic, the R8 Competition goes from 0 to 60 mph (96km/h) in 3.2 seconds and on to a top speed of 199 mph (320km/h), making it the most powerful Audi production vehicle to-date and the fastest R8 ever.
Other highlights include a sport exhaust system with gloss black tailpipes, gloss black wheels with 305 rear tires and ceramic brakes with red brake calipers, and matte carbon exterior elements consisting of a fixed rear spoiler, engine bay, mirror housings, flics, side blades, front spoiler and rear diffusor.
On the inside, Audi treated the Competition with carbon fiber center console and illuminated “R8 competition” door sill inlays.
Only 60 units will be made, all for the U.S., with Audi to begin accepting orders from early November with first deliveries scheduled for the beginning of 2015.
“The limited-edition Audi R8 competition is the closest road car to our R8 LMS ultra race car that has won virtually every race around the world,” said Scott Keogh, President, Audi of America. “It is designed for the driving enthusiast and we’re excited to bring 60 units as a limited-edition to the U.S.”
