With so many promising hybrids seeing the light of day recently, we’re more curious than wary of the news that the next generation Porsche 911, due sometime in 2018, will feature a hybrid variant. In fact, that variant sounds really rather enticing if done right, and being Porsche it probably will be…
CarAdvice quotes Porsche CEO Matthias Muller who reportedly responded “of course, why not?” to the question regarding the 911’s electrified future. He admits that “There is no decision up until now [but] we are negotiating that, and we will see. Maybe in the next generation – there is no reason against it and we will see if we have some reasons to do it.”
The current incarnation, the 991 model, won’t be hybridized, though, it is clear that Muller is pretty much all for it when it comes to future models.
His reasons backing the idea are: “one is CO2, but another reason for us for this technology is sportiness. As we have proved in the 918 Spyder … it can work.”
