Does Land Rover really need a higher-performance SVR version of its luxury-orientated, long-wheelbase Range Rover?
We don’t think so, as the LWB model’s current range topper with a 503hp (510PS) 5.0-liter supercharged V8 has more than enough oomph for what it is, but then again, we’re not product planners at Land Rover.
Today, our spies sent us these photographs of a quad-pipe Range Rover LWB tester with some body camouflage just as it was entering JLR’s Nürburgring facility. The four exhaust finishers are the only new elements on this prototype leading us to believe that Land Rover could be testing an SVR version.
If so, it would have the same tweaked V8 with 542hp (550PS) and 680 Nm (501 lb-ft) of torque as the new Range Rover Sport SVR, along with a series of chassis and aerodynamic enhancements (absent from this car). Or it could be something else with LR distracting us with the exhaust pipes…
