We know Skoda is planning its own version of the VW seven-seater SUV previewed by the CrossBlue concept. It announces the arrival of a new model to slot in between the Tiguan and Touareg, in the VW lineup.
If the Tiguan-related Yeti is anything to go by, then Skoda will probably extensively alter the SUV to fit its brand profile. One of the key concerns will be costs, according to AutoExpress, which came to learn from Skoda boss Winfried Vahland that the model (codenamed “A Plus SUV”) is unlikely to cost over £35,000, or ~€44,500 in Britain even in its top-spec form.
The model is set to go up against the likes of the Kia Sorento and Hyundai Santa Fe, but it will, apparently, undercut them for pricing.
However, we wonder what a seven-seater SUV that costs about as much as a specced-up Superb will be like in terms of quality?
Vahland added that the only sources of power for the upcoming SUV will be exclusively four-cylinder. “Six cylinders are out,” he said, “They’re history. Future engine technology is four-cylinders, turbo engines, focusing on fuel economy.”
Oh, and just in case you were wondering, no, it won’t be called “Snowman,” as some have speculated.
