For the first time since we started seeing camouflaged prototypes of the new C-Class Convertible, Mercedes-Benz has grafted on the production end of the car to a tester.
The similarities in the design of the hindquarters with the bigger S-Class Coupe are hard to miss, from the shape of the lights to the curved boot-lid, and indicate Mercedes’ intentions to further distance the two-door models (including the upcoming coupe) from the existing C-Class sedan and Wagon.
Benz’ first ever C-Class Cabriolet model features frameless windows and a retractable fabric hood similar to that of the E-Class Convertible, offering seating for four.
Previously leaked images from a technical presentation in Stuttgart, revealed that the Cabriolet’s interior is shared with the saloon, adding unique and fancier trims.
For its motivation, the open-top model will cherry pick powertrains from the W205 C-Class’ range offering a selection of four-, six- and eight-cylinder gasoline and diesel engines, likely topped off by the C63 AMG with a twin-turbo V8.
A presentation is due for late next year with the Cabriolet to be joined by a Coupe version as well.
