The supermini-sized crossover market is booming and any manufacturer looking to expand its margins should really look no further. There is room for SsangYong too, especially if their effort in the sector will stay true to the XIV concept they revealed at the Paris motor show.
Unveiled in two versions called Air and Adventure, the concept is, as the manufacturer itself explains “ideal for the urban dweller with an active lifestyle who seeks to escape the city.”
We don’t know how much SsangYong will change the XIV for production, but it’s definitely one crossover to look out for – it’s expected to go on sale in Korea in 2015, with Europe undoubtedly following shortly.
Power plants on offer will be the 1.6-liter (diesel and petrol) units from the concepts, which are Euro 6 compliant; manual and automatic six-speed transmissions will be offered, as well as optional all-wheel drive.
