The secret’s out that the new turbocharged Ford Mustang EcoBoost gets fakery pumped into the cabin to make the driver feel racy. However, the question is just how much of what you hear inside is real and how much is artificially generated.

Well, thanks to a short video courtesy of COBB Tuning, we get to hear what it sounds like without the engine turned on, at different rpms. They explain that “while working with our 5-Way Map Switching on the 2015 Mustang EcoBoost, we noticed changing the map slots activates the car’s factory sound symposer,” which it does.

As for the sound generated, it’s practically inaudible at idle and low revs (at 2,000 rpm it’s a subtle thrum), while at 5,000 rpm it really becomes noticeable.
