BMW‘s new i8 hybrid sports car is very hot commodity these days; just look at what eBay sellers are demanding for their allocations.
We found six BMW i8’s listed for sale from as low as a minimum of $60,000 over the MSRP of $137,500 (plus $950 destination) to as high as $263,900.
We know what you may be thinking; perhaps it’s the extras, but that’s not really the case.
Whereas on other BMW cars optional equipment prices can pile up, the roundel brand has followed a different path with the i8 that is offered with three trim levels priced at $2,000(Giga World), $3,000 (Tera World) and $10,800 (Pure Impulse World).
So what it is aside from free enterprise and super-greedy dealers? Plain and simple, limited production combined with high demand that stems from the car itself and the buzz created by all the positive to rave press reviews.
While we strongly doubt that all dealers will get their asking price, they could end up pocketing a hefty profit.
