Hyundai has applied discreet styling and equipment upgrades on the 2015 Accent, the most affordable vehicle it offers in the United States.
Priced from $14,745 (excluding a $810 destination charge), the 2015 Hyundai Accent is already available in dealerships across the US. So what’s new on the 2015 model?
Exterior updates over the 2014 model include new machine-finish 16-inch wheels offered as standard on the Accent Sport hatchback and available with the GLS sedan equipped with the Style Package. All trims (GLS, GS and Sport) get a slightly revised grille, while equally subtly upgraded headlights are standard on GLS and GS trims. At the rear, the Accent GLS’s taillights get a new light signature. Three new exterior colors are also introduced: Vitamin C, Pacific Blue and Misty Beige.
The interior gains a reversed LCD display with high-contrast look (standard on GLS and GS trims), new interior fabric patterns for Accent’s three available interior colors (Beige, Gray and Black), as well as an exterior temperature display inside the instrument cluster.
As for equipment updates, the 2015 Accent GLS gets a Popular Equipment Package which includes features such as steering wheel audio controls, cruise control, Bluetooth hands-free phone system, tilt/telescoping wheel and a sliding armrest storage box. The package adds $600 to the price of the base GLS equipped with an automatic transmission.
Nothing changes under the hood, with the Accent being powered by the same 1.6-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine producing 137 horsepower and 123 lb-ft (167 Nm) of torque. Mated to a six-speed manual transmission, the engine delivers up to 27 mpg (8.7 l/100 km) city and up to 38 mpg (6.2 l/100 km) highway.
