Mitsuoka as a brand is typical Japanese oddity but translated into cars. Their idea of a sports car is the Orochi, a two-seater that would probably get you noticed more than a new Ferrari would.
It was supposed to be taken out of production this year, but apparently they will be doing eleven more of them with this crazy paint job…
It’s being made to celebrate the Neon Genesis Evangelion anime series, and aside from the mushroom-induced paint job, it’s standard Orochi fare. The engine is the same Toyota-sourced 3.3-liter V6, but at least it does come with all the goodies you could possibly have it with.
The price is equivalent to ~$137,000 / €109,000 and in order to get one you have to sign up at 7-Eleven stores across Japan.
It’s a fitting sendoff to a memorable, if very weird car.
