Since Dodge built the Ram SRT-10 truck all those years back, it would not be far fetched to conceive Chrysler now putting the 707 hp Hellcat V8 under the bonnet of the current Ram 1500.
It’s a question you’ve probably looked at yourself, if the prospect of seeing the engine in other Chrysler group vehicles aside from the Charger and Challenger.
Road&Track editors had lunch with Bob Hegbloom, the CEO of Ram Trucks, who, among other questions, was also asked about he possibility of a Ram 1500 Hellcat. His response was “at this time, I would say no.”
However, as the source report suggests, the key part of that reply was “at this time,” especially since it’s believed the engine could make its way into more group products. For instance, the recently trademarked Jeep Trackhawk name is believed to be linked to the same new engine.
Do you think there would be any real sense in making a Ram 1500 Hellcat? It would probably be very fast in a straight line, but bad at pretty much everything else…
