Shanghai GM is displaying 32 vehicles from the Chevrolet, Buick and Cadillac brands at the Guangzhou Auto Show, with the Chevrolet Sail 3 and Camaro RS Limited Edition being the important Chinese debuts.
Going on sale in China by the end of this year, the Chevrolet Sail 3 entry-level family car is built on Shanghai GM’s new-generation small car architecture. The third-generation Sail features a redesigned exterior featuring a wider dual-port grille, eagle eye-shaped headlights and new taillights. Inside, the Sail 3 features a dual-cockpit design.
The new model is 51mm (2in) longer and 45mm (1.7in) wider than its predecessor, with a 35mm (1.3in) longer wheelbase. The sedan offers 366 liters (12.9 cu-ft) of trunk space.
The Sail 3 is offered with 1.5-liter DVVT and 1.3-liter VVT petrol engines, matched with manual or automatic transmissions with start-stop function. Chevrolet says the powertrains are more fuel-efficient compared to previous models, delivering combined fuel consumption as low as 5.3 l/100 km (44.3 mpg US).
At the other end of the Chevrolet’s Chinese lineup sits the Camaro RS Limited Edition, of which only 300 units will be sold in China. The model features an all-new grille, fog lamps, taillights and exhausts. Power comes from the 3.6-liter V6 engine producing 323 hp and 377 Nm (278 lb-ft) of torque. Pre-sales will begin by the end of the year.
The Chevrolet Corvette Stingray is also debuting in Guangzhou, as are two customized Buick Regal GS and Excelle XT models.
