Not many people outside WRC drivers have the chance of getting behind the wheel of a 300hp World Rally Car. Autocar’s Steven Sutcliffe had this opportunity and obviously took advantage of it.

After being given an impressive ride by WRC driver Kris Meeke, Sutcliffe was allowed to have a go himself in the DS3 WRC on a special forest stage, assisted by a co-driver.

While he wasn’t particularly impressed by the engine’s peak output of 300hp (these days many production cars have more than that), the torque, the short gearing and the way the differentials work made it an unbelievable experience.

But obviously the most important “part” is the one than connects the steering wheel to the pedals – a.k.a. the driver. Scroll down to find out how a WRC car should be driven from the video posted below.
