In a set of cottages in the West Midlands of England, Morgan sports cars are being hand-built as they’ve been for a century.
The Morgan Motor Company has released a video giving you a tour of the factory and how every Morgan goes from being a few pieces of wood, to having metal panels put over the frame, to the paint and handcrafted leather seats and shiny chrome trim.
It’s a little funny that Morgan has gotten into the “special products” contest with more common makes, because the process of how a Morgan is made is basically unlike any other car today. Every piece is crafted, rather than mass produced. Apparently they can make a car any color you like, as well.
There’s also immense attention to detail, and things such as seats and dashboards are all crafted in-house, rather than being outsourced like pretty much every other automaker does today.
It may not ensure precision you can set your watch to. But it does ensure every Morgan is a unique piece – idiosyncrasies and all. And few companies can do that anymore.
