While the headline of the source piece from Autocar reads something about how Jaguar is (lightly) kicking itself for not making more Project 7s, it’s actually not the most important bit of news it presents. In fact, the same source which made the claims also says there will be a manual gearbox option made available form early on in 2015.
Apparently, the cat-badged automaker is going down the manual route “because there are still a good 10 per cent of F-type drivers who would genuinely prefer to change gear by themselves.”
Will it also be available on the all-wheel drive model, the V8, or just the pair of V6s? We don’t know and the original article doesn’t make any claims about that either.
In regards to the Project 7 (pictured) supply problem, it seems that “Jaguar has had so many requests from proper, money wielding customers to build more, they reckon they might even have been able to shift a couple of thousand Project 7s.”
