We have absolutely no idea what Jaguar’s filing for a trademark for the “EV-Type” name could possibly mean. It was filed with both US and Euro offices, and aside from it possibly signifying Jaguar’s interest in creating an all-electric vehicle, we’re stuck as to what it might announce.
There are currently no electric Jaguars to buy at all, although the Jaguar-Land Rover group is working on hybrids. They recently introduced the all-wheel drive version of the F-Type, the only “-Type” currently sold – they previously had a X- and S-Type saloons, but these were phased out and eventually replaced by the XE and XF respectively.
AutoGuide, the source of the news, has no clue either. They say it could be linked to another unconfirmed rumor that Land Rover is looking to launch a fully electric model, so Jaguar could make one of its own – may be a Tesla Model S rival?
