Now that Mercedes has revealed its ultra-luxurious S-Class Maybach, it seems the brand has additional plans of turning it into a separate brand with more than one model.
It’s apparently not a sure thing yet, but if the reaction to the first model is positive, then they may go ahead and make more Maybachs.
Dr. Hermann-Joseph Strop, the development director of the S-Class reportedly told Autocar, “I would not call it an active plan yet, because we have to first wait to see how successful the new saloon will be. But if the brand is popular, we could of course make a Maybach version of many different cars.”
The models eyed to receive the Maybach treatment are the new GLS (replacement for the current seven-seater GL), and the next E-Class, or even the S-Class coupe.
However, the S-Class Maybach (pictured) must first prove itself a valid business proposition, and only then will they even consider expanding the range.
