While there may not be a huge market for the seventh-generation Corvette in South Korea, that may be culled completely by the country’s noise regulations. They rate the C7’s noise levels as excessive, therefore making the car illegal.
Not that this will affect many people, as only around 12 examples are imported into the country each year, hut perhaps this new model would have been more enticing.
Chevrolet Korea CEO Sergio Rocha said “The launch of the seventh-generation Corvette is being delayed indefinitely due to Korea’s regulation on automobile noise. Although such regulatory stance may benefit the industry in the short run, I wonder if that’s something that should be in place for a long time.”
Whichever way it may go, the Koreans will have lost what has proved to be a very good sports car; a much better one than the C6 that never tickled their fancy…
