The way Mitsubishi is going these days, we’ll be lucky if we see a heated up SUV in its future, let alone a contemporary 3000GT replacement, but it never hurts to dream, right?
Enter the world of Carscoops reader Abdelaziz Dhailia from the United Arab Emirates, who imagined up a successor to the 1990-2001 Mitsubishi 3000GT, a car that was sold as the GTO in its home market, while also gaining a twin brother in America after Chrysler re-badged it as the 1991-1996 Dodge Stealth.
The 3000GT was one of many commendable lower and higher end sports cars to come out of Japan in the 1990s, ranging from the Mazda MX-5, Honda CR-X II, Mitsubishi Lancer EVO and Nissan 200SΧ, to the original Honda / Acura NSX, Mazda RX-7 Mk3, Nissan 300ZX, Subaru SVX and Toyota Supra Mk4. I know – what an amazing decade that was for Japanese performance cars.
Abdelaziz tells us that he based his rendering of the 2017 Mitsubishi 3000GT on the upcoming 2016 Honda NSX and specifically on the concept. It actually looks a whole lot better than what it sounds.
Tip of the hat to Abdelaziz!
