Grand Theft Auto games, from the third installment onward, have been distinctly third-person experiences.

Mods appeared for pretty much all titles up to the fifth one (released in September of 2013), but now with the occasion of launching GTA5 on next-gen consoles and PC, developer Rockstar will be adding a first person mode too.

And it’s not by no means an afterthought at all. Cars get much more detailed interiors than before, with moving steering wheels and working dials – it looks a bit like Driver: San Francisco, and that’s actually a compliment.

The graphics are, it must be said, superb. It easily beats Watchdogs for immersion and realism and you can spot this even solely by watching the short trailer posted below – the game world just looks more “lived in” as developers like to put it these days…

GTA5 ships for Xbox One and Play Station 4 in less than a week from today, on November 18. PC gaming advocates will have to wait a little while longer, until January 27 – no, Christmas won’t be a happy time for them this year, but on the upside, it’s not really that long of a wait.
