The Tesla Model X SUV should have been available for purchase by now, as it was originally intended for release in 2013.
Over time, its launch date has been pushed further and further back; the latest known plan was to release the model early in 2015, but now that has been postponed yet again, this time until later in the third quarter.
The news was made public by company CEO Elon Musk in a shareholder letter quoted by Autoblog Green. An excerpt from said letter explained that the decision to add a few more months of waiting was made in order to get the model right and not launch it problem-ridden, then have to recall it several times to get it right.
As pointed out by the source, that’s actually a smart thing to do, and while it has some negative effects in the short term, it’s for the better and should result in a better, more complete end product.
Besides, sales of the Model S are going great, and the company expects a fifty percent rise in demand next year, as the breach new markets and word of their achievements spreads.
