Rolls-Royce and royalty have been going hand in hand ever since the inception of the brand in the beginning of the 20th century, so no surprise that the firm has created the bespoke Maharaja Phantom Drophead Coupé.
Maharaja is an Indian title for king (great king, to be precise), with Rolls-Royce stating that, the special edition was “inspired by the Golden Age of the Raja” and made to honor “India’s affinity with the super-luxury marque” as over a period of five decades, the Maharajas purchased some 840 unique Rolls-Royce motor cars.
That makes sense, what doesn’t is that, it was revealed in Dubai at an Indian-themed evening event held in celebration of the car’s arrival at the AGMC Rolls-Royce showroom and that it was created exclusively for customers in Dubai. However, Rolls Royce said that it has “prompted strong interest from local customers within the Indian community”.
“Dubai is the only market in the world to receive this extraordinary, one-of-a-kind Bespoke Phantom Drophead Coupé, which has been two years in the making – not only an incredible coup for us, but also a strong reflection of the importance that Rolls-Royce Motor Cars places on this market,” said Osman Abdelmoneim, General Manager at AGMC.
The car itself is finished in a Carrara White colour, with a Peacock emblem, which is the national bird of India, completing an Emerald green coachline. The interior of the car combines Crème Light leather with Emerald green accents, complemented by marquetry inlay on the fascia panel top and arm rests, Peacock emblems, and a bespoke ‘Maharaja Peacock’ clock.
