If there’s anyone on planet Earth that Top Gear, and especially the most controversial of its hosts, Jeremy Clarkson, hasn’t insulted yet, well, there’s no need to worry; sooner or later, they will.

Some say (pun most certainly intended…) that all this is intended to create more buzz around the TV’s longest running motoring show and that the emphasis is on the show, rather than the motoring, side of the program.

For some time, there were rumors circulating that BBC is fed up with Clarkson offending someone even when he’s asleep and is considering axing the show or, at least, giving JC the boot.

That’s far from the truth as can be. In fact, right now Jeremy is considering a whopping £12 million (US$18.8 million) offer from BBC to extend the show.

Sure, Top Gear is generating loads of money and it’s only fair that the money-makers get their cut. Just how big is this cut? British publication Daily Mail has revealed the three hosts’ wealth and the way they’ve spent some of it, so let’s see who has what.

Jeremy Clarkson

Worth: £30 million / US$47 million

The Income
BBC pays the 54-year old nearly £1.5 million (US$2.3 million) a year for his service as a presenter. Plus, in 2012 he sold the network his share in the program for the princely sum of, wait for it, £13 million (US$20.5 million). Plus, he writes columns in various newspapers and has released various DVDs and books.

The Property
His main residence is a £2 million (US$3.1 million) home near Chipping Norton in Oxforshire. He also owns a lighthouse (!) in the Isle of Man with an estimated worth of £1.5 million (US$2.3 million) that’s been converted to a holiday house and he’s known to spend time at his bachelor place in Fitzrovia, London.

The Wheels
Last we heard, JC owned a Ford GT, a Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder, a Ferrari F355, a Mercedes-Benz SL55 AMG, a Jaguar XJR, a Toyota Land Cruiser, a Volvo XC90 and an ex-military Land Rover Defender.
Nice cars, all of them but unlike his TV persona he seems to keep a relatively low profile, eschewing LaFerraris, Veyrons etc. for things that are a bit more low-key.

Richard Hammond

Worth: £15 million (US$23.5 million)

The Income
His retainer for each season of Top Gear is £500,000 (US$785,000). He has also published a series of books and presented children’s games’ programs, has a newspaper column and got paid £750,000 (US$1.2 million) for a Morrisons ad.

The Property
Since 2008, the 44-year old lives in “Hamelot”, an 18th-century castle in Herefordshire that’s built in a 20-acre estate. He also bought his neighbor’s 11-acre estate to resolve the dispute caused by Hammond making too much noise by flying his own helicopter.

The Wheels
A Porsche 911 GTS, a classic Morgan, two Land Rovers (one for himself and one for his wife) and a 1965 Opel Kadett are part of Hammond’s collection, along with a VW Type 3 Campervan, 28 motorcycles and, well, the aforementioned helicopter.

James May

Worth: £10 million (US$15.7 million)

The Income
The most laid-back of the trio ets paid the same as Hammond for each TG series, i.e. £500,000 (US$785,000). Has written many books, presented various programs and got paid £250,000 (US$392,000) to be the “face: of London Pride beer.

The Property
A brown brick house in West London costing around £2 million (US$3.2 million) with, fittingly, a large garage.

The Wheels
A Porsche 911 and a Rolls-Royce, two other cars, six motorcycles, a Brompton folding bike and a quite humble everyday car: a Fiat Panda. “If I could only have one, I would say my Panda”, he has said. Oh, and a Super Decathlon light plane kept at an airfield in Berkshire.
