OK, so the Vencer Sarthe is Holland’s answer to Ferrari and Lamborghini. And no, there’s probably no point for it to exist. But maybe that’s sort of its point.
Steve Sutcliffe from Autocar has just tested the borderline-unpronounceable Vencer and there are some early takeaways. With a 6.3-liter V8 with 622 horsepower tuned by Hennessey (itself of General Motors origins), and a total lack of electronic intervention, it sounds like a vaguely American creation.
It’s not a full-blown sports car, either, Sutcliffe says, calling it more of a GT-car. But with a 0-60 time of just 3.6 seconds, it hard to deny the insanity of the car. Perhaps not precise in the way of the best supercars, but insane in a way that could make Lamborghini jealous.
And at roughly £250,000 UK price, you have to be pretty lunatic to buy one. But then, with Vencer planning to make just one per month at peak production, you’ll be among a rarified group of lunatics.
